Hi Everyone! Since I showed you how to write an attractive
CV and how to write a cover letter, I thought this time it would be better if I
share some important points on facing an interview.
The first thing you have to do before facing an interview is
Prepare in Advance. Let’s see how to do that!
Find about the company. 🏢
This is the first thing you should
do after you’ve been asked to interview for a position at a company. Find out
- · The mission of the company,
- · How long it’s been around
- · How many employees it has, and
- · What your position would be if you got the job.
- · If the company has a motto, memorize it.
Make sure you know as much about the company so you can
impress your interviewers and show them how much you care.
Find about your interviewers if you can. 👨
You can check out their LinkedIn profiles or their profiles on any other
professional networks. Although you don’t need to
mention that you searched about them, if you find a few things you have in
common, such as you both happened to work at the same company,
then this can help you get an added advantage. But don’t get too personal and don’t
to mention something you found on the interviewer’s Facebook page.
Prepare to answer common questions. 📆📜
Although each interview is different, there are certain questions that many interviewers
commonly ask from their interviewees.
Here are some questions you should be prepared to answer:
- · “What are your biggest strengths?” Choose a strength or strengths that show why you would be a good fit for the position, and provide valid reasons. Make sure it’s relevant to the job.
- · “What are your biggest weaknesses?” Don’t say “I work too hard”. Instead, choose a weakness that isn’t super important to the position and show that you’re working on improving at it.
- · “Why do you want to work at this company?” Don’t tell that you want to work there because it’s the only company that asked you for an interview. Instead, point out several things you like about the company and be as detailed as possible; also make it clear why you think you would fit in there and be able to contribute to their team.
Prepare to ask questions. ❓
Interviewers will tell you to ask questions if there's any, at the end of the interview. So you should prepare for that. This also shows that you’ve done your
homework and are excited about the position. If you just smile and say no, that makes you look like you don’t care about the position
all that much. Here are some questions that you can ask from interviewers:
- · Ask what your daily life on the job would look like
- · Ask what their (interviewers') favorite part of working for the company is
- · Ask about other ways you can get involved at the company in addition to the job description. (Extra events, Functions, etc.)
Practice with a friend or someone who knows about your field. 📣
This can help you practice your
answers with confidence. You can even dress up for the practice interview so
you don’t feel so nervous when you put on your interview clothes. Tell your
friend to give you an honest assessment of the rehearsal.
Prepare to bring everything you need. 💼
You’ should bring your resume and cover letter to use as a
reference, as well as any other additional materials that you think will help
give your interviewers a better idea about you. (Certificates, Relevant Letters, etc.)
Hope this will help you. Good Luck with your interviews :)
Thank you!
Kalpani
